Preggers!!!!

So I am finally posting again.  We haven't had many interesting and exciting things to post this summer because all we are doing is working and going to school.  But yesterday we found out something exciting that is DEFINITELY worth a post!  I AM PREGNANT!  Yay!  We are so excited!  I'm going to be a mommy!  Rick is going to be a daddy!  We are going to be parents!  How crazy/exciting is that?  Well if you can't tell, we are pretty excited.

Rick thinks its gross that I took pictures of my "pee sticks" but he doesn't understand the importance of "Creating a Lasting Legacy" (right, mom?).  So hopefully you aren't too grossed out by these pictures :)

So I guess I will tell the exciting story of how I found out.  I woke up at 4am yesterday morning (June 11) knowing that I would be able to take a test today and I couldn't go back to sleep.  So at about 5am I got up and took a test.  It was one of those tests that has the one line if you aren't pregnant, and two if you are.  It said on the box to wait three to five minutes for the results.  I waited three and didn't see a second line and went back to bed pretty disappointed.  Rick left for work at 6am and I got up at 7am.  I went into the bathroom and saw a faint second line!  It was extremely faint but there nonetheless.  I immediately started researching on the internet on whether a faint line meant "yes".  I read information saying that it almost always shows as a faint line and it wouldn't show at all unless you were pregnant.  Of course I still didn't want to get too excited in case it wasn't real but I had to call someone!  I called my mom and she was excited, but like me, trying not to be too excited.  She gave me the advice to take the digital kind (the ones that say "pregnant" or "not pregnant", takes a lot of the guess work out) the next morning.  I agreed and hung up.  About twenty minutes later I couldn't stand it anymore so I drove down to Walmart, bought a digital test and took it immediately.  The entire three minutes I was waiting for the results I was shaking!  I wanted it to be real SOOOO bad!  Three minutes later I saw "pregnant" and started screaming!  

Rick was at work and I really didn't just want to call and tell him the news over the phone so I had to wait until 6pm to tell him!  I decided to tell him in a fun way.  A few weeks ago we were watching the movie "Juno" and one of our favorite characters from The Office (Dwight) had a small part in the film.  One of his lines was "Your eggo is preggo".  We laughed hard at that and Rick has quoted it a few times since then.  So, I decided to go to the store and get a box of Eggos.  I put them in the freezer with a sign "My eggo is preggo!"  When I got home from work I acted like my ankle was hurting and asked Rick to get me an ice pack out of the freezer.  He went to the freezer and was looking everywhere for the ice pack and completely missed the huge sign in front of his face!  Then, he picked up the box of eggos looking behind them! Duh! So finally I had to say, "Rick look in your hands!"  He looked down and didn't get the joke at all.  He was like "preggo?"  A few seconds later, I said "Are you kidding me?!" His eyes finally lit up in understanding and he said "What!?  No way, you're lying!"  I ran over a gave him a big hug.  He couldn't stop smiling.  But then he said again, "I still don't believe you."  So I showed him the "proof".  He was in shock but very excited also.

We are so excited and couldn't wait to share it with all of our friends and family.  I have had about ten people tell me it better be a boy (my husband included)  :)  I just tell them, "Really, its all up to Rick!"

RMPA!

Last semester in my Principles of Assessment class we had to do a research project where we tested the reliability and validity of something.  My group decided to test the reliability and validity of the book The Five Love Languages written by Gary Chapman.  We did a really good job on it but once the semester was over we were really excited that we didn't ever have to look at that book again.  Boy were we wrong!  Our professor, Steve Barney (middle), told us we should take it to RMPA.  The Rocky Mountain Psychological Association holds a conference every year where students and professors of Psychology present research projects they have conducted.  We took our project to RMPA, which was held in Boise, Idaho.  This is a picture of us right after we finished presenting.  It was a lot of fun, and a great honor!

This is me with Dr. Lynn White.  She was my Statistics professor last semester and I was her aid and the stats tutor this semester.  We are waiting outside The Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner with the whole SUU group.

Megan, Gentri, and I.  We all had a blast hanging out in our room.  This was right after we presented our project.  We decided to take a break and hang out before we hit the town for dinner with the whole group that came from SUU.

Gilbert the Magnificent!

Unfortunately, SUU's basketball team fell in the first round of the Summit League tournament in a close game to IPFW, 66-62.  It came down to the wire and in the last minute we had the chance to win and just couldn't convert.  As sad as it was that they lost, I couldn't help but be excited for Rick because he had an AWESOME game!  He pulled down a career-best 12 rebounds and an SUU-best 5 assists, leading both teams in rebounds and assists for the night.  He also had eight points and played 27 minutes.  He had a great game and I am so proud of him.  It is really weird to think that his Sophomore season is already over!  Two down, two to go!

My brother, Elder Easton Pedersen, entered the MTC on January 23, 2007. He is preparing for a mission in the Texas Houston South Mission, spanish speaking.  So far he is doing wonderful in the MTC and has been picking up the language a lot easier than we and he thought!  He has still struggled a little bit with the spanish but from his letters he sounds like he is trying hard and receiving a lot of help from his Heavenly Father.  We love Easton and are very proud of him.  Good luck Elder!

The SUU basketball team finished their last game of the season last night beating IPFW in an emotion-filled overtime game.  SUU started the season out with a rough start but by the second half of the season they were up to par and beating almost every team the second time around.  They enter the Summit League Tournament on Sunday March 9 as the fifth place team.  Their first round game is against IPFW so it should be an emotional game after Saturdays intense match up.  If they beat IPFW they will play reigning champs, Oral Roberts, on Monday the 10th.  Go T-Birds and good luck Rick!

Just something I drew while I was bored in class.  I scanned it into the computer then used Illustrator to live trace it and live paint to fill in the colors.  

Family and friends, Kori would like to introduce you to the amazing and talented pigeon Gilbert.  Gilbert is part of Kori's experimental analysis of behavior class at SUU.  Shown here in this photo, Gilbert is exploring the world of the fascinating Skinner Box.  Gilbert has been assisting Korinne with various labs to study association and conditioning.  Just today Kori was able to teach Gilbert that he would get food if he pecked the small black dot on the wall by his head.  She did this by giving him food if he made motions toward the dot.  After luring him in close he learned that a peck would trigger the magazine and boom, food magically appears.  Sadly after happily enjoying his new found method of obtaining food, it was time for Korinne to learn about extinction.  This means that Kori told Gilbert that everything he learned was wrong.  Now the button didn't give him food and he forgot all about it.  I know, I know, you're asking why isn't PETA stepping in to protect innocent animals like Gilbert.  Sadly we still live in a world where unfeeling college students can exploit poor pigeons. 

If you havn't heard of or used iTunes U, you should give it a try.  A bunch of universities provide a lot of really cool information through lectures and question answer sessions etc.  Some of my favorite universities on iTunes U are Yale, Stanford, New York Law School, MIT, and UC Berkeley.  I found these are the best sources for information about business topics.  Some of the other schools seem to be promoting the school and don't give interesting business lectures like these schools.  Also you'll see a section on the iTunes U page in iTunes that says "Beyond Campus."  Under that section there is a link to the Gilder Lehrman Institute.  Here I found some facinating lectures on American Presidents and American History.  Be sure to check out the Lincoln and the Civil War Podcast.

The Office is Back!

I've been trying to find some good that came from the recent writer's strike.  It's been really difficult but I think I have it.  Since The Office has been on vacation I've been able to memorize every episode.  Unless you want to hear me quote every word that Dwight, Michael, Jim, or any other Dunder Mifflin employee says, you shouldn't watch a re-run with me.  April 10th is the official date when Dunder Mifflin returns from vacation.  Season four will only finish with 6 more episodes, but thats better than no more episodes.  Hopefully for Dwight 6 episodes is enough time to win Angela back after he killed her cat.
