15 Months Old!

Daci turned 15 months old on May 21. Time is flying! At her check-up she measured in at 31 inches long, 23 lbs 4 oz, and her head circumference was 18 inches. We love her so much and can't imagine life without her. She is so much fun to be around and we are just in awe of her everyday. Some new things she is doing:

-She meows like a cat
-She moos like a cow
-She quacks like a duck
-She walks everywhere with her arms behind her back (just started that yesterday..so funny!)
-She folds her arms for the prayer. She also does it to get what she wants because she knows how happy we are when she does it. Its really hard to resist giving her what she wants when she begs and begs and we say "no" and then she quickly folds her arms and looks at us with expectant eyes :)
-She still says "plea!" (please) for everything
-She is OBSESSED with jewelry. If you have any on you will be her instant friend. She loves to sneak up the stairs into Sophie's room and get in her jewelry box and load her arms up with bracelets and her neck up with necklaces.
-She loves to wear things on her head. If she finds one of her headbands on the floor she picks it up and puts it on her head...I trained her well I guess :)
-She loves to go to Costco with Yia Yia and Papou and with Grandma and GG.
-She went to a duck pond by my dads work the other day and LOVED it. We fed them bread and she was in heaven
-The next day Yia Yia and Papou took Daci to a farm and she rode a horse! There was also a Calico kitty that followed her around everywhere, she even jumped up into the stroller with Daci! Daci was in heaven there too :) She loves animals and being outdoors.
-She loves to play in the dirt. She would play in it all day long if we let her :)
-One cute story that I have to tell. The day she went to the farm I didn't go with her so we were apart from 10am to 6:30pm. She had SO much fun at the farm but as soon as they packed her up in the car Penny said she kept saying "Mum, Mum, Mum!" All the way home. I guess it was every few seconds for the whole hour ride home. Penny said she decided to count how many she said in the last five minutes of the car ride and she counted 37! That made me feel special :) It was fun to have her miss me and be so excited to see me. I love my little booger!

This is the first instant that she saw the Roberts' cat Chloe come outside. She loves animals!

Family Pics 2010

We got our family pictures taken with my mom's side of the family last week because it will be a very long time before we are all together again. My Grandparents are leaving on their fourth mission, my brother Tannon is going on his mission, my brother Easton is moving to Cedar City to go to school and play football at SUU and we are moving to Chicago! It was quite the adventure trying to get just one good shot with Daci but it was worth it! We got some great ones :)

Daci's First Operation!

Daci has had about 6-7 ear infections straight since October of last year. She would get one, I would take her in, she would get antibiotics, she would feel better for about a week after she finished the antibiotics, and then she would get another one! The doctors finally said, "Enough!" They said she needed tubes, otherwise she would suffer from hearing loss and speech delay. Her surgery was scheduled for 5:45am on Tuesday the 18th. She was actually really hyper and happy while we were waiting for the doctor. They had a little wagon that we pulled her around in, she got a special T-shirt with a teddy bear on it, she got a bracelet with all of her information that she loved to play with, there were lots of animal books that she loved looking at and all of the nurses were just gushing over her. She thought she was having a party or something. Then the anesthesiologist came out and told us they were going to put her under with a gas mask. He was really nice and Daci warmed up to him really fast. He said, "Daci, do you want to go see my balloon?" Daci started looking for the balloon and he walked out of the room with her. Just like that and she was gone. I was really worried about her and that she would be really upset without us and I was also really worried for the doctor and nurses because I know what Daci can be like when she is scared :) We went into the recovery room and only had to wait about 20 minutes. When she was done, we definitely knew it! We heard a scream and then a loud "Moommm!" They brought her into the room and she lost it. I swear she was possessed by a demon for 45 minutes straight. She screamed and writhed forever. Needless to say, she really didn't come out of the anesthesia very well. I felt so bad for her, she was just so scared. Finally after the doctor came in and gave us instructions (the whole time Daci was screaming) and I said, "Daci, should we go Buh Bye?" She immediately stopped crying, let out an excited squeal, clapped her hands and said, "BUH BYE!!!" She was so happy to get out of that place :) We got out to the car and I thought, "Yes, we are home free!" And then......the car wouldn't start. Lovely! Rick had already left me to go to school and I was all alone in a surgery center parking lot with a terrified child. It was quite the morning. Rick turned around and then I drove him back to school and then headed back home. The whole rest of the day Daci would be happy one second and then break into tears the next. She was quite emotional :) I am really happy that she won't have to deal with the ear infections anymore. She has been in quite a bit of pain for a while now and I hope once they heal from the operation she will feel lots better! Love you doodle!

Reading animal books with Daddy

Spinning on the doctor chair right before they came to get her

After the operation. She was like dead weight, she was still so out of it from the medication but was also screaming her head off. It was really hard to control her!

By the end all we could do was laugh. This was definitely not our child! Luckily she was back a few hours later :)

Introducing....

I have started a little business! We all know how much I love baby headbands and flowers. I mean lets be honest....have you ever seen Daci out in public without a big flower on her head? :) I have searched high and low for cute headbands for an affordable price but there just isn't anything out there that is cute, well-made, and inexpensive. Because I was sick of spending a fortune I began making flowers for Daci myself. I loved doing it so much that I decided to start a little business. Check out my blog www.babybandsandbling.blogspot.com to see the flowers and headbands that I sell! I would appreciate your business if you are looking for something for your own child or for a gift for a cute little one. These flowers also look great as a hair accessory for adults and are great accents for hats, scarves, and bags!

A WONDERFUL Weekend!

I had a very special weekend. It was Mother's Day on Sunday and my Birthday on Monday! I have to say I was pretty spoiled by my cute hubbie. He took me on a fun date on Saturday. We left Daci with my mom and went to see the new movie Iron Man 2 (which by the way we LOVED!) then we got Costa Vida for lunch.

Carly and Micah's new baby, Eleni, was born on May 5th. Isn't she adorable!? I love being an aunt!

Oh-so-sweet!

There were four generations at the Roberts' house that day so we had to get a photo :)

Then, in the evening we went to my Grandma's house for dinner and dessert. My mom gave me a gorgeous necklace (more to come on that in a few days) Daci loves climbing up in my dad's lap and playing with his iPhone :)

Monday was birthday and I had a great day! My mom took me to lunch and shopping and then I hung out at her house until Rick got done with school. He called me at five and said, "I'm coming to get you right now, we are going to drop Daci off with my mom and then go do something." Oooh!" I thought, "What are we going to do?" We drove to Carly and Micah's house (Penny was there helping with the baby) to drop Daci off and when I walked in the door they all jumped out and said "Surprise!" My very own surprise party! I felt pretty special. I felt even more special when I learned that Rick drove all the way to Salt Lake to get me Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, then drove it all the way to Carly's house in Orem and then drove all the way back to Highland to pick me up. Isn't he the sweetest? He also got me a beautiful pair of shoes from Nordstrom and I got some great Mac makeup from Carly and Penny. I am so spoiled!

We couldn't get Daci to settle down and take a good pic so we decided to be crazy with her. We have so much fun together!

Mother's Day

We just wanted to wish our moms a Happy Mother's Day! We love you both so much and are so grateful for all you do for us. We are so lucky to have two grandma's who love our little girl so much and she loves both of them just as much! She loves her "Yia Yia" and her "Maa-ma" and is going to miss both of them when we move! Luckily there are modern day inventions like Scype so we can still chat and see each other often! We hope you have a great Mother's Day! We love you!

Before I became a mom I thought I understood what it would be like but until I actually held that baby in my arms for the first time did I fully understand how much you can love a person. Daci is my light. I love her more than words can express. She brings me so much joy and everything I do, I do for her. She is such a goober and everything she does makes me laugh. People probably get so sick of me talking about her or showing off her new, funny things. I love it when she says "Mom!", I love it when she grabs on to my leg when she wants to be held and says, "Plea, Plea, Plea!" until I pick her up, I love it when she brings me a book and climbs up in my lap, I love it when she blows me a kiss, I love it when she hugs her Tigger and then wants me to hug him too, I love it when she says "Hi? Hi? Hi?" when she thinks she is in trouble, and I love it when she wraps her arms around my neck and squeezes tight. I love everything about her and I am so grateful everyday for the opportunity I have to be her mother. Happy Mother's Day to me!

As a side note, I think I have to mention that Rick has spoiled me this Mother's Day, he took me on a date yesterday and let me sleep in this morning. As much as I love my little Daci, I do love a morning of no Daci every once in a while :) Thanks babe! I love you and promise to spoil you on Father's Day!

Chicago!

As many of you know, we are moving to Chicago at the end of June. Rick got a job working right downtown and we are so grateful that he did. I am extremely nervous to leave my Utah but am also excited to start a new adventure with our little family. We went out to Chicago last week to look for housing and also for Rick to visit his new office and meet his new coworkers and bosses. His company (Pariveda Solutions- an IT consulting firm) put us up in a hotel downtown for two nights. We spent a lot of time walking around the city and eating tons of good food! We walked so much I had shin splints and ate so much that the walking didn't even touch our calorie intake :) The first night we were in the city we walked from one end of it to the other. We wound up at the John Hancock building and had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory which is on the first floor.
During our walk we stopped and took a lot of pictures. Rick is absolutely in love with the city and is so fascinated by the architecture. I was also in awe by the huge buildings. I felt like a tiny speck in this huge universe. It was so crazy to look up at each building and think of all the people that were in just that one building. There are so many people in the world!

The river that runs through downtown is gorgeous!

Waiting patiently for a seat at the Cheesecake Factory

On the way back to the hotel we passed a Lamborghini (sp?) store. Rick of course had to get pictures. He looked like a little kid with his nose pressed up against the glasses oohing and awing :)

The next day we walked all the way back over to the John Hancock and did the tour on the top floor. It was so high and I definitely had vertigo up there! HEre you can see Rick in front of both the Sears Tower (the one to the right) and the new Trump Tower (to the left)
Up against the window looking down. It doesn't do it justice how high we actually were...Scary!

As much as we love the city we won't be living downtown (much to Rick's dismay!). We will be living in a suburb west of the city called Naperville. I fell in love with the city and it made me much less nervous to go. We met some great people and found some good places to live....now we just have to decide which one we want! I will keep you posted once we have made a decision.
