Birthday Surprise

Ok, so back to my fabulous weekend.  Lets erase the memory of Daci's wonderful haircut....if you don't know what I'm talking about, scroll down to the last post.  Trust me, you will want to see it.

Ok so on my birthday Rick left at 5:30am, like he always does.  He gave me a kiss and said good bye but said nothing about my birthday.  I bit my tongue so hard.  I wanted to say something, but then decided to wait and see how long it would take him to remember.  I got a text at 6am when he got on the train that said, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" I told him he was lucky he remembered ;)  I also wanted to wait and see if he had anything planned for me but I couldn't stand the suspense.  I knew he was super swamped with work that week so I figured we probably wouldn't do anything but wanted to know for sure so I asked and he said, "I would love to, but I'm not sure if I can get everything done.  We will if I can."  Blah.  I wasn't mad at him, of course, I was just bummed that my birthday was going to be like any other day.  I guess once you grow up and have kids thats just how it is right? I mean, its not like I can just not have my kids just because its my birthday :)  So anyway, Carly and Stephanie and I decided to go downtown Naperville with the kids for a fun little outing.  See this post.

So then Carly and I decided to plan a fun dinner with our families to celebrate, which is why we ended up with Lou's.  But when I texted Rick to tell him we were doing that, he acted kinda funny.  I asked him if he would rather not do it but he said it was fine.  I told him we didn't have to, but I knew he was busy and that we weren't going to be able to go out for my birthday, so I thought we could bring something in.  He texts back, "Ugh.  You ruined it. We are going out, I already got someone to watch the kids tomorrow night."  Whoops.  Darn me and my impatience :)  I told him not to tell me anything else, that I still wanted everything else to be a surprise.  Oh, and I still got my Lou's, so maybe my impatience isn't such a bad thing? :)

The next night he came home from work, our friends came over to watch the kids and we jumped in the car.  Rick started driving toward downtown Naperville. Yay!  He parked in the parking garage, took my hand, and we just started walking.  It was so fun not knowing where we were going!  First he took me to the River Walk and we walked around for about a half hour.  It was fun and relaxing to actually walk it without the kids :)  Then he said, "Ok, we better go." And he took my hand and led me to our next destination.  We ended up at my most favorite restaurant in the WHOLE world!  Sullivan's Steakhouse.  Seriously, its to die for. I LOVE it.  And it definitely didn't disappoint.  That quite possibly was the best meal I have ever had!  It meant so much to me that Rick set all that up.  It makes me feel so special and loved when he plans fun things for me!  Sullivan's is definitely not something we can afford to just go to for fun, so it was so sweet of him to make my birthday a special occasion.

At Sullivan's.  Sorry the pics aren't the best quality.  I felt silly pulling out my huge camera with a flash in the dimly lit restaurant to take pics of the food, so we just used my iphone :)

The meals come with a wedge salad.  Best wedge ever.

I got the delicious filet with Gorgonzola Garlic Butter. Oh.my.gosh!

It looks like I'm saying "Mmmm!"  Which I am, but really my mouth is shut like that to hide the two holes in my mouth. I have to take my mouth guard out to eat.  Ha!
Rick got the Salmon Steak.  It was delicious!  We also got their crab fried rice to split. Mmmm!
Our waiter took this pic.  Rick was so embarrassed I asked him to take our pic :)

Outside of Sullivan's after dinner
We think we are cool :)

After our fun date.  Love my hubby!
